Come participate in Ascension’s 3rd Annual Vacation Bible School!
Co-directed by Roseann Kytka, Director of Childhood Education, and Diana Schwinge, Professor of Educational Linguistics at Aldephi University, VBS offers the children and families of Forest Hills and its surrounding communities a week of activity coupled with bible learning that makes the Scriptures and Jesus come alive.
We provide a full range of activities including recreational games, dramatic play, arts and crafts, snack making, music and movement, and bible stories conveyed in an educational and age-appropriate way.
This program has expanded each year from 25 students (2006) to 65 students (2007). This year's Vacation Bible School Staff comprises 25 teachers and counselors. We will also begin our Counselors-In-Training Program for children ages 13-15, who are in between camper and counselor age.
There is a registered nurse on the premises at all times.
Curriculum
Monday Choose to Believe: The Blind Man (John 9)
Jesus is the Savior that God Promised to send.
Tuesday Choose to Act: The Ten Sick Men (Luke 17: 11-19)
Jesus cares about each person, not just those who are liked by others.
Wednesday Choose Forgiveness: The Paralyzed Man (Mark 2: 1-12)
Jesus will forgive us if we ask Him to.
Thursday Choose to Obey: The Rich Young Ruler (Luke 18: 18-27)
Jesus wants us to obey Him in all our choices, not just when it’s easy.
Friday Choose Jesus: The Disciple (John 20: 19-29)
Jesus died for us, but lives again and guides us every day.
Each child receives a free CD and songbook with the songs and motions.
